Brooke is a native of the mountains of North Carolina. She grew up in a small town near Asheville. Her family spent a lot of time camping and hiking. She moved to Charlotte, NC where she went to college and graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. She has worked in many areas in Veterinary medicine including surgery, neurology, shelter medicine and general practice. She developed a passion for surgery, anesthesia, and radiology. Her husband’s career relocated them to Arkansas and finally to Lucas, TX where they reside now with their son, 2 dogs, a horse, a cat, and a bearded dragon!
She has been working at a mixed animal veterinary practice in Allen, TX since 2013. They treat a variety of large and small animals. These include dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, donkeys, goats, sheep, llamas, and alpacas! She is passionate about the care of the animals they see and continues to expand her knowledge for anesthesia across the many animals they see at the clinic.
In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses, hiking, backpacking, and spending time with friends and family. She is often seen at the Level 1 and 2 classes and has earned the nickname “Taco Forager” because she is always bringing food, snacks, and coffee to the instructors during those classes. She has completed Levels 1 and 2 as well and continues to practice the skills she learned from the classes as much as she can.
She has several certifications such as Canine and Feline CPR, Canine Wilderness First Aid, Equine Emergency First Aid, and her License of Veterinary Technology. She is also a member of EastTex CERT and has certifications in CPR/AED and Wilderness First Aid (for humans!).
